Inside Line Promotions - FORNEY, Texas (June 17, 2013) - It's going to be another week and a half before John Binz is able to return to the track.
After destroying his mini sprint in a series of violent flips two weeks ago, Binz hoped to piece together a new car by last Friday to compete as a support series during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event at Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas. Unfortunately, not everything came together in time.
"I haven't gotten the chassis back," he said. "Other than that, I've just got to get a sprocket and some spacers and that's about it."
Binz is flying to Washington on Wednesday to help his boss, Travis Rilat, compete at the 42nd annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup Thursday through Saturday at Skagit Speedway in Alger. Last season the duo raced to a preliminary night win.
"We're definitely excited to return to the Dirt Cup," Binz said. "We have a lot of good friends out there and I think we can win the event. Hopefully we can put together a good weekend and then I can come back to finish my car."
If everything comes together, Binz plans to race on Friday and Saturday, June 28-29, at Kennedale Speedway Park in a pair of nonwing events.
