Bristol, WI – June 4, 2013. Bill Balog and the B2 Motorsports team headed to Iowa this past weekend to take on the World of Outlaws at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington. Bill would lay down a lap that would be 28th quickest of the 43 cars on hand. Lining up in the 7th starting spot in the heat race, Bill would drop back a couple positions at the start while fighting a tight racecar. Bill in the end would make his way back up to the 6th position, but would be in the B-main. Lining up in the 8th position in the B-main, Bill would once again lose some positions on the start. After searching around a few laps, Bill found a line that the car seemed to like and started moving back forward. In the end Bill would chase Danny Lasoski across the line in the 6th position missing the transfer to the feature by 2 spots.
With the weather forecast calling for rain in Knoxville, the team headed home overnight to run with the Interstate Racing Association at the Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI where the forecast called for warm temperatures and sunshine. Bill would qualify in the second position of the 35 cars on hand on the quickly fading racetrack. Lining up in the 6th starting position in the second heat, Bill would run in the 6th position in the follow the leader event until lap 6 when he made his way under the #85M of Steve Meyer. On the last lap Bill would dive under the #4K of Kris Spitz into the 4th and final transfer position. Quick qualifier Jeremy Schultz would draw a #4 pill for the feature invert lining Bill up in the 7th starting position. At the drop of the green, Bill began his charge forward and was up into the 3rd position by a lap 5 caution. Once back racing, Bill quickly disposed of the leader and second place running cars out into the lead where he would run and hide from the field until a Lap 25 red flag for a wreck in turn four. With less than 5 laps to go, per IRA rules all lap cars were removed putting the #80K of Mike Kertscher on the back bumper of the 17B sprinter. When the green would fly again Bill and Mike would exchange the lead between the two on both ends for three laps before Bill finally got the upper hand and raced his way to his 5th victory of 2013 and 2nd of the year at the Beaver Dam Raceway over Kertscher and Todd King.
This week, the 17B sprint car and driver Bill Balog will head to the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, WI to compete with the Interstate Racing Association in the event dubbed the Tony Stewart Sprintacular as Tony will fly from Michigan International Speedway to the dirt track to compete.
