The 2017 version of the Tommy will pay $5,000 to win out of a total purse worth over $25,000 for the 30-lap feature with time trials setting the heat and feature starting grids as the sprints compete in the program that is part of the Lawrence Chevrolet-sponsored season title chase.
Action will also include the PASS/IMCA 305 sprints.
Adult general admission for the show is $20 with youth ages 13-20 admitted for $10. Kids ages 12 and under are always admitted for free at Williams Grove.
The Williams Grove portion of the 50/50 ticket sales this week will be donated to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.
Defending and five-time All Stars Champion Chad Kemenah of Findlay, OH., will lead the band of travelers into Williams Grove for the Tommy race.
Formerly known as the Early Bird Championship, the prestigious Tommy Hinnershitz Memorial took its name in 2007, now run in honor of the winner of the first ever motor racing main event at Williams Grove Speedway back in 1939.
An eventual Hall of Fame driver, Hinnershitz of Oley went on to win the track title that year and again in 1949 and 1952.
Brian Montieth of Phoenixville is the defending winner of the Hinnershitz race.
Other winners of the event since taking the Hinnershitz name have been: Craig Keel, 2007; Brian Leppo, 2008; Lance Dewease, 2009; Chad Layton, 2010, 2012; Doug Esh, 2014; and Stevie Smith, 2015.
The event was lost to rain in 2011 and in 2013.
May 5 will see the track host another Yellow Breeches 500 event for the 410 sprint cars along with 358 sprint action.
