Mechanicsburg - Williams Grove Speedway has been forced to cancel the entire 54th annual National Open weekend due to persistent rain and forecasted inclement weather. This includes the Saturday, October 1 finale.
As a result of the cancellation, a mutually agreed upon date has been reached for the return of the World of Outlaws to Williams Grove Speedway for a one-day National Open with the stage set for a make-up on Friday, October 14 at 7:30 pm.
The one-day format will feature the 40-lap National Open, now paying $25,000 to win and $1,000 to start that will also crown the 2016 Williams Grove Speedway track champion.
All special events slated to be held on speedway grounds on October 1 including auctions and benefits will take place as previously scheduled.
Fans who hold tickets to the September 29, 30 and October 1 National Open can either exchange them or use them for the new rain date. All tickets will be refunded as per back of ticket, and this week's camping passes will be honored on the rescheduled National Open date.
Before the October 14 National Open culminates the season, a program of "Run Whatcha' Brung" 410 sprint and super late model racing is slated for next Friday, October 7 at 7:30 pm.
