Mechanicsburg - Williams Grove Speedway will kick off the 26th annual PA Sprint Speedweek series coming up this Friday night, June 24 at 8 pm.
The Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars will begin the nine-day series on Friday with a 25-lap feature paying $5,000 to win.
The entire 2016 Speedweek series is sponsored by Always Racing, a pastoral organization that ministers to the motorsports community during times of trauma and also in spiritual need.
The HJ Towing & Recovery 358 sprints will join the 410 sprints on the Speedweek card and will race for an increased purse.
The June 24 Speedweek event with be another date in the 2016 Williams Grove Diamond Series.
Adult general admission for the Speedweek show is $16 with youth ages 13- 20 admitted for just $10.
The Williams Grove portion of the 50/50 drawing will be donated to Special Olympics of Central Pennsylvania.
Special Olympians who made it to the state championships this year will be honored at the Speedweek event.
Stevie Smith kicked off Speedweek last season with a Williams Grove victory before Doug Esh came back for a win a week later in the annual Mitch Smith Memorial.
Williams Grove Speedway will again host the $10,000 to win Speedweek Mitch Smith Memorial coming up this year on Friday, July 1 at 8 pm.
This week's Speedweek kickoff will be the 29th series event held at Williams Grove since the lucrative and intensely popular series began in 1991.
Steve Smith Sr. won the first ever Williams Grove Speedweek show on July 3, 1991, and went on to win the overall maiden series title.
Currently at Williams Grove in the season-long point's chase for the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint car title, Danny Dietrich leads Greg Hodnett by 30 markers for the crown.
