LaRose and Robards compete in season-ending Halloween Clash at Coles County

RS12 Motorsports teammates Zander LaRose and Harrison Robards made their final 2024 trips to Coles County Speedway on Friday and Saturday. Racing as part of strong fields in the Halloween Clash, both young drivers turned in top-10 finishes during the last event of the year at the track.

LaRose was one of 20 Junior Sprint racers at the 1/8-mile oval in Mattoon, Illinois, when the event kicked off on Friday evening. As competition got underway, he drove his Spartan Transportation No. 1Z to a fourth-place result in his heat race despite suffering damage. He went on to finish 11th in the 15-lap A-Main after starting 10th.

The next night, 19 Junior Sprints were at Coles County, where LaRose claimed the runner-up spot in his heat. He started 11th in the 15-lap feature and picked up one position to come home 10th.

Meanwhile, Robards competed in a stacked 24-car A-Class Wing program on Friday. He took sixth in his heat aboard his Spartan Transportation No. 11R machine, then started seventh in the 20-lap feature. He fell back during the race and finished 14th.

Saturday brought 23 A-Class Wing competitors to the track for a show that forced Robards to battle hard. He was involved in a crash on the first lap of his heat race, but still drove up to third with a bent axle, the throttle sticking and the right front toed out. He started eighth in the 20-lap A-Main and recorded a ninth-place result on a challenging evening.

Robards also took part in the 20-car Non-Wing Micro class on Friday. He finished sixth in his heat race, but did not participate in the A-Main and focused solely on A-Class on Saturday.
