Following a dominating victory Friday in Iowa, a busy stretch of four races in just five days spanning four different states resumed on Saturday for the Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team as they traveled to Lakeside Speedway. In five previous appearances at the track just outside Kansas City, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ hasn’t finished outside the top-ten and aimed to build on a career best fourth place in 2010.
After getting a feel for the semi-banked half-mile in hotlaps, Dollansky piloted the MobileStar #7 to 7th fastest in qualifying among the 21 drivers competing. A front row starting spot for heat two then saw Dollansky motor into the lead and cruise to his third consecutive and series-leading eleventh heat victory. In the dash the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products Maxim started outside row three and advanced one spot in the 6-lap affair.
In the 30-lap A-Main the Aggressive Hydraulics backed sprinter lined up fifth on the starting grid. Following a caution on the initial start and another just two laps later, an outstanding restart saw Dollansky power into the top spot and lead lap 3. Setting a blistering pace, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ put some space between himself and the rest of the field opening up a four second lead by just lap 7. As the feature continued and Dollansky worked through lapped traffic, the driver of the Aggressive Hydraulics backed sprinter never backed down taking the checkered flag by over a five second margin of victory. The fourth win of the 2013 season was also a historic one for the Elk River, Minnesota native as he moved into sole possession of 10th on the all-time World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series win list.
“After the dash we made some changes with our race car and felt pretty comfortable up by the wall,” commented Dollansky who leads the series with 157 feature laps led. “This is a great race team, we were struggling a little bit but we’re getting things sorted out and the car the way I like to feel it. DJ Lindsey, my crew chief, does a great job along with Sean Michael and Chevy Corn.
“I’m pretty happy with our Eyecon Trail Cameras race team and all the people from Big Game that support us along with many others like our manufacturers Maxim Chassis, Morrison Engines, and Integra Shocks. There are so many people to thank that support this race team.”
The Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team was scheduled to return to I-80 Speedway in Nebraska tonight but too much overnight rain flooding the pit area has forced the event to be canceled.
