For just the third time ever and first since 2009, Craig Dollansky and the rest of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Cars traveled to 34 Raceway on Friday as the Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team returned to action since recording a top-ten performance just two nights prior in Indiana.
Set to go on the 3/8-mile located in Burlington, Iowa, Dollansky began the night timing in 12th fastest among the outstanding field of 43 competitors. Sixteen cars inverted into four heats then put the Aggressive Hydraulics backed sprinter outside row one for heat four where Dollansky motored to the victory to earn a spot in the dash. A little luck by way of an eight pill inversion draw put the #7 on the pole of the dash where ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ again powered into the lead and went on to win the 6-lap event to start on the pole of the main event.
Jumping out to the early lead in the 34-lap A-Main, the MobileStar Maxim approached lapped traffic just prior to a red flag on lap 6. After another red on the ensuing restart prompted a single-file restart, the Elk River, Minnesota native continued to hold the lead before a pair of cautions on lap 9 & 12. As feature action resumed the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products #7 again opened up a commanding lead primarily utilizing the highside of the 34 Raceway before approaching lapped traffic once again by lap 18. Setting a torrid pace, Dollansky continued to extend his lead methodically working through slower traffic all the way up to ninth position as the laps wound down until the checkered flag capped a dominating victory for the driver of the Big Game Treestands #7 for the third time this season.
“You never know how big of a lead you got when leading the race,” commented the pilot of the #7 who crossed the finish line with over a seven second margin of victory. “I felt like we were running a pretty good pace and it was going to be hard for somebody to get by us. I’m just happy for this entire race team to come home first tonight.
“My team did a great job. DJ, Sean, and Chevy keep working hard and we have to keep digging. It’s a long season ahead of us and we have a great support system for this race team from Eyecon Trail Cameras, MobileStar, Aggressive Hydraulics, and many others.”
