ALL TIED UP: Sweet Wins Battle, Courtney Wins War as Midweek Money Series Comes Down to Final Lap at I-70

You couldn't have written a better script for the Midweek Money Series than what unfolded in real time on Tuesday night at I-70 Speedway.

In the seventh and final race, with four drivers mathematically in contention, it came down to the last lap and ultimately a tiebreaker, then a second tiebreaker, to determine the $25,000 midweek title with Kubota High Limit Racing.

Brad Sweet won the war, charging from fourth and taking the lead on Lap 9, ultimately building a 2.1-second margin of victory in a non-stop 30-lapper. "The Big Cat" claimed his third win in five tries at the Odessa, MO 1/2-mile, which will go under a reconfiguration this winter to move to a shorter oval.

It was the eighth trip to Whiskey Myers Victory Lane for Sweet and his Kasey Kahne Racing, NAPA Auto Parts #49 - tying him with Rico Abreu for winningest driver in Kubota High Limit Racing in 2024.

While Sweet's efforts were outstanding, it was not enough to take away from the Midweek Money Series title - which ended in a 462-462 tie between he and Tyler Courtney.

They both tied in points, both tied in the first tiebreaker (wins), and Courtney finally got the edge in the second tiebreaker (2nd place finishes). That meant a $25,000 Midweek Money Series championship for he and his Clauson-Marshall Racing, NOS Energy Drink #7BC.

Ryan Timms followed Sweet to the line in the race, earning a career-best runner-up in his first night driving the Shane Liebig owned #10. James McFadden rounded out the podium in his Roth Motorsports #83.

Closing out the top-10 at I-70 was Aaron Reutzel, Spencer Bayston, Tyler Courtney, Parker Price-Miller, Rico Abreu, Justin Peck, and Jacob Allen.
