Tulsa Oklahoma (June 4, 2012) – After a successful season opening event during the first non-wing sprint car race of the 2013 season which drew the praises of fans and teams alike, the roaring and mud slinging sprint cars of the Oil Capital Racing Series will once again remove their wings this Saturday night at Willie Gammill’s West Siloam Speedway in Colcord Oklahoma. This will be the first return back to West Siloam Speedway for OCRS since Whit ‘Gasman’ Gastineau visited WSS victory lane on July 24, 2010. It will be the first time ever for OCRS to run wingless at WSS, as the series has made its return to conduct wingless racing action in 2013 since a topless stint in 2008. Series point leader, Harli White of Lindsay Oklahoma, won the first wingless sprint race of the year at the Brill Motor Speedway by besting a field of 38 entrants back in March.
The Friday Night Event Scheduled At Mid-America Speedway Is Cancelled
Race fans and race teams should make note that the wingless sprint car event scheduled for this Friday night at the Mid-America Speedway in South Coffeyville Oklahoma is cancelled. OCRS officials are working to move the event to another facility this season. OCRS will make the announcement as to where and when once a date and a venue are secured. Stay tuned.
The Wait Is Over and The Anticipation Of Exciting Topless Action Is High
Through the 2012-2013 off-season, the anticipation of watching 360 cu. in. sprint cars dice their way around the track wingless style was at constant high. The season opener did not disappoint as then 17 year old White’s win was not only popular in nature, but it was a race that saw tight knit action for the lead as the likes of Joe Wood Jr, Andrew Deal and Jamie Passmore made for a night that kept race fans chattering for days after.
West Siloam Speedway is a ¼ mile track that will surely lend itself to some of the action that was evidenced back in March. OCRS has received numerous emails, calls and social media messages from both fans and teams wanting to get to the next wingless event and now that time has come. Three feature winners of the first six events held by OCRS this year will look to add to their early season success. In addition to White (who has three wins), the “Morton Gang”, brothers Kade and Chance, will be in action at WSS looking for more victory hardware. Some of the series drivers expected to try and capture their first win of the young season include:
“The Caretaker” Danny Smith / “Flyin Brian” McClelland
Johnny ‘Hotrod’ Kent / ‘Jammin Jamie’ Passmore
Alex “The Jet’ Sewell / “Lightning” Layne Himebaugh
Joe Wood Jr / Kyle Clark
Rafe Essary / Alex DeCamp
Michael Bookout / Cody Brewer………………and more!
