Inside Line Promotions – PLYMOUTH, Wis. (Sept. 30, 2024) – Mother Nature forced Tim Estenson to change plans from an ASCS National Tour event to a Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series doubleheader.
The team rerouted from Arkansas to Wisconsin, but unfortunate circumstances damped the weekend in ‘The Badger State.’
“It wasn’t too good of a weekend,” Estenson said. “We started out feeling pretty good in hot laps on Friday. We went out late in qualifying and ended up being a little too tight.”
Estenson qualified 19th quickest. He advanced from seventh to fifth place in a heat race to lock into the 15th starting position in the main event.
“We got going early,” he said. “I think we moved up five spots within six laps. On the seventh lap we were going for ninth place. I had a big run off turn two. I thought the car in front of me was running his same line, but when I went to the bottom of turn three he moved down and didn’t give me any real estate. I had to pitch it sideways not to run into him and I ended up getting upside down. It was just a racing deal. It was a soft crash, but it damaged the frame.”
Estenson was unable to restart the race and the team was forced to pull down the backup car to compete on Saturday at the Plymouth Dirt Track, where Estenson missed hot laps and qualifying. He maneuvered from ninth to seventh place in both a heat race and the B Main to miss transferring into the main event.
“We were behind the eight ball all night,” he said. “We tried our best, but it just didn’t work out. Sometimes that happens in racing and you just have to take the bad with the good moments.”
Estenson is heading to Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., this Friday and Saturday for the Ron Milton Race of Champions with the Midwest Open Wheel Association.
“I’ve been there two times,” he said. “Once was an Outlaws race and we didn’t have a good night. And the first time was a regular show when I think we ended up with a top five. I’m eager to get back there.”
