9/20/2024 Dodge City, Kansas (www.urssracing.com) - For just the second time this year, mother nature has impacted a scheduled race for the United Rebel Sprint Series.
As the 2024 National Tour hits the road today heading to Hutchinson, Kansas and the SaltCity Racing half-mile, this weekend's trip was scheduled to be a double header with Dodge City Raceway Park for the track's championship nights.
Track crews and series officials have been in conversation with the National Weather Service in Dodge City the last few days, hoping the weather chances would diminish, but over the last 24 hours, the chances of rain have only gotten worse.
“I've spoken to the National Weather Service and the forecast for this weekend is not improving but in fact it is only getting worse... I feel it is in the best interest of the racers that will cancel our show tomorrow night... This is never an easy decision but July 6th was a good example of what I feel will happen... I don't want to get all the teams here and then have to send them home knowing the weather was coming... Thank you for all your support this season and we look forward to 2025” said Dodge City Raceway Park in a statement on social media this morning.
AROUND THE CORNER: The United Rebel Sprint Series will quickly make its return to the iconic I-70 Motorsports Park in Odessa, Missouri on Saturday, September 28th, 2024 before the series heads to Longdale Speedway in October.
