With his plans to compete in the Late Model ranks spoiled by Mother Nature, Ricky Thornton Jr. made his 410 Sprint Car debut over the weekend with the High Limit Sprint Car Series doubleheader at Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pa.).
Aboard the Bernie Stuebgen-owned No. 71RT Indy Race Parts Sprinter, Thornton was still finding his footing early in the evening but was able to move forward in his B-Main.
For the second round of the Commonwealth Clash on Saturday, Ricky’s heat finish relegated him into the C-Main. Gunning for a transfer spot into the B-Main and eventually the $50,000-to-win A-Main, Thornton’s night was over after crossing the line in seventh in his consolation race.
Earlier in the week, Thornton turned in a seventh-place finish at Millbridge Speedway (Salisbury, N.C.) on Wednesday driving the Carber Racing No. 1 Non-Wing Micro.
