CANNONBALL: Goldesberry Celebrates in the Lake

On Saturday, September 14th the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Car Series 27 of the best of the upper midwest checked into 141 Speedway.

Jake Blackhurst was fastest in Box3 Media Hot Laps, Blake Nimee would take the fastest lap by only one ten-thousandth second over Mike Reinke. Heat races were won by Sage Fruit, Hepfner Racing Products Rookie of the Year contenders Logan Julien, Tylar Rankin, and two-time IRA Champion Jake Blackhurst.

Dashes were won by Kyle Schuett and Scotty Thiel which set up the front row of our 30 lap feature. TJ Haddy would take home the B-Main in his IRA Debut.

At the drop of the green Thiel and Schuett would lead the field to green, but it would be Schuett to the early lead. The battle to watch would be behind the Philo Phenom as Goldesberry, Blackhurst, and Nimee would battle for third. With 3 laps ticked away, Blackhurst and Goldesberry would exchange second and third. Blackhurst would steal it back down the backstretch as Schuett would continue to lead the way.

We threw the caution with 19 remaining, Kyle Schuett would lead the way to green followed by Thiel, Blackhurst, Goldesberry, and Julien. The drivers involved in the accident would return to the tail of the field. At the start of the field, chaos would unravel as the 10w and 88 would collide on the front stretch and bring out a red. Both drivers were okay.

19 laps remaining as Schuett would continue to tick away laps around the 141 Speedway. Goldesberry would pass for third and begin to hunt down the 73 and 9K. 10 laps remained as the lead cars would dance through lap traffic.

We’d throw one more caution in the night for problems arising in turn three, Schuett would again have a rear view mirror full of Thiel, Goldesberry, Nimee, and Julien. 9 more circuits around 141 speedway and we’d crown a winner of the Hopf Farms Bullring Showdown.

Thiel and Schuett would throw sliders against each other and the Big Wheel would grab the lead heading down the backstretch. Schuett would grab the lead again at the flagstand. Both drivers would take to the cushion with 6 laps remaining but Jordan Goldesberry would find rubber on the bottom of one and two and take the lead.

Goldesberry would remain unchallenged after he masted the rubber on the bottom of the race track grabbing his first win of the season. Thiel would come home second, and Blake Nimee would slide into the final podium position.

The Hopf Farms Bullring Showdown Series within a Series also concluded at the 141 Speedway with the Big Wheel on top of the charts. Jake Blackhurst second and a tie for third with Scotty Neitzel and Blake Nimee. Travis Arenz would round out the top 5.
