9/7/2024 Beatrice, Nebraska (www.urssracing.com) - The United Rebel Sprint Series presented by RacinDirt made its third ever trip to the Thayer County Speedway in Deshler, Nebraska for the 20th scheduled race of the 2024 season.
Once heat races were done, the #4x of Jason Danley, (Lincoln, Nebraska), and the #20 of Jeremy Huish, (Ness City, Kansas), were scheduled to start from the front row for the Mel Hambelton Ford 20 lap feature race.
On the opening lap, Huish took his Cranston Racing Team #20 to the top shelf and built a run down the back straightaway to clear the #4x of Jason Danley. Lap after lap, Jeremy Huish continued to flirt with the high banked outside wall and before too long, Huish had company.
The #15v of Cole Vanderheiden, (Papillion, Nebraska), continued to hug his BradCo Companies entry around the bottom of the track and on lap 4 Vanderheiden had a shot. Jeremy Huish took his car high entering turns 1 and 2 before the right rear tire would hook up to the cushion scrubbing the speed from the #20 of Jeremy Huish.
The “Cole Train” had his shot. Vanderheiden took his car to the inside of Huish going into turns 3 and 4. Vanderheiden pulled alongside Huish through the front stretch and by the time they entered turn 1, Vanderheiden had the upper hand.
“I really felt like the top here wasn't suitable to run for the 305, but it might be in a 360” said Cole after the race. “That was so much fun. I saw Danley slip up there and then Huish, and I knew we had a shot” added Vanderheiden.
With the win tonight, Cole Vanderheiden not only grabs his first National Tour win, it also becomes the 11th different winner this season with the United Rebel Sprint Series. “We’ve won 2 times this year at a couple of local tracks we've ran for a few years, but this national win feels really good” Vanderheiden added.
The series will now head to Salt City Racing in Hutchinson, Kansas on September 20th and then Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kansas on September 21st. You can catch all the action live on RacinDirt.TV
