Kyle Steffens' Labor Day weekend kicked off on Saturday evening as the pilot of the Performance Plus Global Logistics No. 8 entry invaded Du Quoin State Fairgrounds (Du Quoin, Ill.) for the 70th annual Ted Horn 100.
With 29 USAC Silver Crown National Championship entries on the grounds at the one-mile dirt oval, Steffens’ seventh-fastest qualifying effort positioned him on the fourth row for the $10,000-to-win Labor Day special. Steering to his fourth consecutive Silver Crown top-10, Kyle posted a seventh-place finish in the rain-shortened 98-lap affair.
Steffens continues to climb the USAC Silver Crown National Championship point standing as the St. Charles, Missouri native is up to fifth in the latest rundown.
