Inside Line Promotions – WEST FARGO, N.D. (Aug. 27, 2024) – Big Game Motorsports posted a pair of top-10 results in North Dakota last weekend.
David Gravel opened the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader on Friday by qualifying second quickest at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. He placed second in a heat race to advance into the dash. A seventh-place result lined him up on the inside of the fourth row in the main event.
“We had a good start in the dash and biked up and fell to the back,” he said. “I was able to get back to seventh. The track stayed pretty wet all night long. We were okay on the green flag runs (in the feature), but the restarts weren’t good for us and we had quite a bit of restarts.”
Gravel spent the majority of the feature duking it out just outside of the top five before he ended sixth for his 45th top-10 outing of the season.
The team headed to Red River Valley Speedway on Saturday. Misfortune struck early as a part broke while Gravel attempted his qualifying run. The car got upside down before Gravel was able to complete a lap. That lined him up at the back of a heat race, but a run from ninth to fourth place locked Gravel into the 12th starting position in the A Main. He continued to march forward in the feature, picking up a handful of positions to finish eighth.
“The big thing was getting through the heat race to set ourselves up,” he said. “I’m a little disappointed in our finish in the feature, but we had the car pretty banged up and weren’t able to get it back to 100 percent. We salvaged an acceptable finish.”
Gravel owns a 110-point lead in the World of Outlaws championship standings heading into a three-race weekend at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D. It begins on Friday with the Huset’s Hustle presented by Folkens Brothers Trucking with the $100,000-to-win BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals presented by MENARDS running Saturday and Sunday.
“I’m looking forward to racing at Huset’s in front of our sponsors and people who support us,” he said. “They are non-points races so we’re going to go in there with an open mind and try to get some money.”
