WHAT TO WATCH FOR: Richardson and Huish Look to Continue Points Battle Heading into WaKeeney Speedway

8/22/2024 WaKeeney, Kansas (www.urssracing.com) - For the second time this season the United Rebel Sprint Series heads to WaKeeney Speedway. The 3/8 mile will play host to not only the Winged Warriors, but as well as the High Plains Kansas DirtCar Late Model Series.

Here are the top storylines entering the weekend:

Current Points Leader: As the series heads into its final stanza of the season, there is no question that the Jetmore, Kansas native, Jeremy Huish, has been prevailing. Now with 6 wins with the National Tour this year, Huish is looking to close out strong in the last nine races. The last win for the Cranston Race Team #20 was back at WaKeeney Speedway on June 11th, as Jeremy Huish battled his way through the field to grab his 6th win of the year.

FOCUSING FORWARD: Since the beginning of the year, Steven Richardson and the #0 have been in strong contention nearly every night. But Richardson will be the first to tell you, it has been far from easy. Showing up with strong cars every night, some weekends just haven't fallen in the way of the “O-Show”. Winning earlier this year at Enid Speedway, to grabbing the checkered flag in front of a packed crowd in Hutchinson, it will be key for the #0 team to not only get back in victory lane, but find consistent finishes.

THE CLOSER: If one driver knows how to play spoiler, it would be the #17x of Jake Martens, (Fairview, Oklahoma). With a new car after wrecking the original at the beginning of the year, the Jecha owned #17x has been fun to watch lately. With four wins this season, Jake Martens could definitely add another win to the column Friday night at WaKeeney Speedway.

WHEN AND WHERE: Friday August 23rd, 2024, at WaKeeney Speedway in WaKeeney, Kansas

AROUND THE CORNER: The United Rebel Sprint Series will quickly make its return the first weekend of September, as the series heads back to Nebraska for a two-night showdown. Friday, September 6th the series will be at Beatrice Speedway as Saturday, September 7th will be a first time appearance for the series at Thayer County Speedway.
