With remnants of Tropical Storm Debby forcing Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series officials to cancel the Milton Hershey School Appalachian Midget Week in it's entirety, Ryan Timms loaded up his CitGard Engine Oil / driveWFX.com No. 5T Sprinter and hit the road to compete in the 63rd annual NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville (IA) Raceway.
Joining 53 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series entries for his preliminary night on Thursday, Timms raced into his prelim feature with a runner-up heat showing. Racing for a transfer spot into Saturday's main event, Ryan climbed two positions to finish 15th.
Back at the half-mile oval on Friday for the FVP Hard Knox Night, Ryan claimed a 10th-place heat finish before storming sixth-to-first in his C Feature. Chasing a fourth-place finish or better in his B Feature to qualify for Friday's Hard Knox preliminary, Timms passed the most cars in the 12-lapper but his night was over after placing ninth.
After racing to a runner-up showing in his D Feature on Saturday, Timms' bid into the $190,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals finale drew to an early close with a 18th-place outing in the C Feature.
