RANSOMVILLE, NY (August 12, 2024) The Southern Ontario Sprints will be making their annual appearance at the Ransomville Speedway this coming Friday night. The night will also feature the season championship event for the KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks, plus the Vintage Cars, Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman, and the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks.
Entering the action on Friday night, Dylan Westbrook currently leads the SOS points by 100 over Ryan Turner and 132 points over both Darren Dryden and DJ Christie. Westbrook, from Scotland, Ontario is the most recent winner with the SOS at Merrittville Speedway. Last season, Liam Martin from Binbrook, Ontario won the SOS A-Main at the Big R.
Coming into the regular season points finale for the full-fender KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks, Sanborn, NY’s Brandon Sherwood has a slim 10-point advantage over Stanley, NY’s Mike Welch. Sherwood has three wins, with six top five and six top ten finishes this season. Welch has a pair of Ransomville wins to his credit, to go along with his six top five, and six top ten finishes. Sherwood would have to finish in front of Welch to claim the track championship. If Welch wins the race, Sherwood will have to finish third or better to earn the title. For Welch to claim the title, he would have to finish four positions better than Sherwood. If Welch wins the race, he will win the title if Sherwood finishes fifth or worse.
Joining the Street Stocks and the Southern Ontario Sprints will be the vintage cars, DIRTcar Sportsman, and Mini Stocks.
