Waylon Phillips returned to competition on Saturday evening after taking a weekend off and ended the night by adding an another accolade to his résumé.
Pulling double duty at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex (Sweet Springs, Mo) on Saturday, Phillips came out the gate firing in his Non-Wing Micro heat by picking up a flag-to-flag victory in the 10-lapper. Lined up fourth for the A-Main, Waylon inched forward one position to bring home a third-place finish.
In his Non-Wing Outlaw Micro, Waylon's fifth-to-third heat showing locked his spot into the feature. Seeking his first win in the division, Phillips slid underneath pole-starting Aaron Jesina on lap 11 and paced the remaining 10 circuits to claim his fifth win of the season and first of his career in the Non-Wing Outlaw Micro ranks.
