ONE FOR THE HISTORY BOOKS: Kyle Jones Wins Over Joey Danley by 0.020 Seconds in the 7th Annual Belleville 305 Nationals

8/3/2024 Belleville, Kan (www.urssracing.com) - Monumental, captivating, iconic or even historical. However you want to describe it, that's what the fans of the Belleville High Banks witnessed Saturday evening during the 7th Annual Belleville 305 Nationals presented by NextEra Energy Resources.

Koby Weirkmeister and Joey Danley were scheduled on the front row after all preliminary action was complete, and the 30-Lap feature event was ready to go. On the start, the #14 of Joey Danley, (Lincoln, Nebraska), quickly opened his lead up to over a half a straightaway to the #20 of Jeremy Huish, (Ness City, Kansas).

Huish continued to bang the boards, keeping the #14 of Danley in his sights. As the field began to separate themselves across the high-banked half-mile track, The leaders quickly began to catch traffic on lap 6.

As Joey Danley began to navigate through the lap traffic, Kyle Jones started to close in on Jeremy Huish. Starting the race from 7th, Jones was in hot pursuit to re correct history from a year ago. The #14 of Joey Danley began to slow down after attempting to slide the #23v of Michalob Voeltz.

With the tea pot starting to scream with excitement, Kyle Jones finally caught Huish on lap 16, taking the #9 machine to the inside of Huish, clearing him out of turn 4 to take the second position. Now with over 10 laps to go, the chase was on for Kyle Jones.

Lap after lap, Kyle Jones sat in the tire tracks of Danley, waiting for the perfect opportunity to challenge the #14 for the lead. The sand started to run short in the hour glass, as the white flag was displayed, Jones had one more attempt saved in the reserve.

Jones took the #9, Kennedale Texas, machine to the top of turns one and two, building up a run to use down the back straightaway. Kyle would peek his nose to the bottom of the track, and drag racing to the line, Jones beat Danley to the line by 0.020 seconds.

“Man, we had a great car,” said Kyle Jones in victory lane. “Joe has given me a good car now 2 years in a row, and this is really a true testament to Joe and John Webster on what they got behind this program and i'm just lucky enough to be a part of this deal” added Jones.

“We started 7th, had to be patient and was hoping for a caution but it was all perfect. I can't thank everyone enough on this team” Jones added in the post race interview. “My dad alway told me that if you wanna go fast you go to Belleville, and it's such an honor to say i've won here” he added.
