Friday night at the Red Clay was the Maverick Wing Sprint Series with 17 cars and Nascar driver Chase Briscoe was an entry and did an awesome autograph session for our fans before the heat races. Qualifying for this series is always intense with single car quals. The entire field was only 0.6 seconds from 1st to 17th in qualifying. Joe B Miller was the fast time with 10.265 followed by Sterling Cling, Geoff Dodge, Chase Briscoe and Aryton Gennetton. This setup the 3 heats. Heat race 1 Corbin Gurley led the entire race over Chase Briscoe and Joe B. Miller. Heat race 2 Todd Moule won it from the pole over Reece Saldana and Max Guillford. The final heat 3 was won Trey McGranahan over Van Gurley Jr. and Bryce Norris. This setup the Dash and the 2 that drew the front row were Joe B. Miller and Todd Moule. They would finish like this after 6 laps and these 2 would be on the front row for the 30 lap A main. The 30 lap feature would pay 5 grand to win and it was a great battle. Joe B. Miller started off with the early lead and they were still in the 10 second bracket on the very fast red clay. Joe B. started to build a lead but by lap 10 they could see the back of the field and this is when it got real interesting as Todd Moule was getting closer when they got into lapped traffic. Todd made a wild move dicing through the traffic and would take the lead from Joe B. Miller just over the halfway point in the A. The 26AU was very fast the final 5 laps and was able to hold Joe B. Miller behind him and put on a great show for the fans of the Maverick Series. Following Todd Moule at the finish it was Joe B. Miller, Geoff Dodge, Aryton Gennetton, Sterling Cling, Chase Briscoe, Bryce Norris, Corbin Gurley, Trey Mcgranahan and Max Guillford from 16th to 10th. Thanks to all the Maverick teams who put on a great show for our fans and thanks to Chase Briscoe for also taking the time to go from the big track to the red clay and compete. The Maverick Series will be back August 30th at Bloomington Speedway for another classic.

The Indiana Racesavers had 24 cars and the 3 fast times in their groups were Justin Matthews, Bradley Sterrett and Ethan Barrow. Heat race 1 Justin was able to win it from the pole over Ryan Tusing and Andy Bradley. Heat race 2 Bradley Sterrett won it from the pole over Jordan Welch and Ashton Thompson. The final heat was won from the pole by Ethan Barrow over Levi Hinck and John Paynter Jr. The last chance race newcomer Cole Parker was able to win it over Dustin Clark and Terry Arthur. This setup the A main and the front row was Levi Hinck and Jordan Welch. This 20 lap feature went very fast with only 1 caution. Jordan Welch looked really strong early and him and Levi had a good battle and both of them would get through lapped traffic well which kept some of the others in the top 6 behind them not able to make moves. By the halfway point Jeff Wimmenauer was one of the fastest in the field coming from 15th up to 5th and taking the hard charger for the evening. On the final restart Jordan was able to hit his marks perfect and put the 23J in victory lane again over Levi Hinck, Bradley Sterrett, John Paynter Jr. and Jeff Wimmenauer. Thanks to all the 24 teams who put on a great show and to all the sponsors who put money towards the purse.

The hornets had a small field but put on a good show. In the heat race Ty Bland came from 4th to win it over Skylar Ashley and Kevin Umphress. In the feature Ty Bland came from 4th again and won the A main over Jeremy Shemwell, Skylar Ashley and Kevin Umphress. Don’t forget next Friday night at LPS is night 1 of Indiana Sprint Week then on August 1st and 2nd it is back to back from Terre Haute and the red clay at Bloomington. Should be another great Indiana Sprint Week. Thanks to all the teams and fans who came out for our Maverick Sprint Series show. See you at Sprint Week.
