Super Spectacle: 10 Supermodified Teams to Race Back-to-Back Nights at Oswego Speedway with ISMA/MSS and Oswego Novelis Supers This Weekend

OSWEGO, NY (July 17, 2024) - Oswego Speedway is gearing up for a jam-packed weekend of racing action with the much-anticipated Super Spectacle this Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20. The two-day event promises to deliver much racing excitement, featuring both the top wing and tail wing ISMA/MSS and Oswego Novelis Supermodifieds, and marks the final opportunity for fans to witness the Winged Supermodifieds at Oswego in 2024.

The event kicks off on Friday, July 19, with the ISMA/MSS Winged Super Challenge Finale, a thrilling 50-lap event with a $7,000 prize for the winner. In addition to Winged Supers, the J&S Paving 350 Supermodifieds are also on the card for the all top wing showdown on Friday night, presented by Holiday Inn Express & Suites Oswego and NBT Bank.

On Saturday, July 20, the excitement continues with Autograph Night at the races, presented by Compass Federal Credit Union and Rock Stream Retreat. This is the last autograph night at the track until next season. The evening will feature point events for the Novelis Supermodifieds (50 -laps), Pathfinder Bank SBS (30-laps), and J&S Paving 350 Supers (25-laps).

As of now, 10 Supermodified teams are planning to compete in both legs of the Super Spectacle this Friday and Saturday, including #02 Brandon Bellinger, #7 Otto Sitterly, #11 Ben Seitz, #52 Dave Danzer, #54 Camden Proud, #66 Lou LeVea Sr., #83 Lou LeVea Jr., #95 Dave Shullick Jr., #98 Tyler Thompson, and #99 Jerry Curran.

Seven of these ten drivers/teams—Osetek Racing/Dave Shullick Jr, Jason Simmons Racing/ Tyler Thompson, Danzer Racing/Dave Danzer, John Nicotra Racing/Otto Sitterly, Vic Miller Racing/Ben Seitz, Daratt-Bellinger Racing/Brandon Bellinger, and Proud Motorsports/Camden Proud—are in the top 10 in the five-race Oswego Super Challenge point standings promoted by John Nicotra. There is a $25,000 total point fund that will be distributed to the top 10, including a $5,000 winner's share.

John Nicotra's 2024 Challenge includes the 75-lap Jim Shampine Memorial on May 25, the first ISMA/MSS Winged Challenge on June 1, the second ISMA/MSS Winged Challenge this Friday night, July 19, the 37th Annual $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified on August 10, and the 68th running of the Budweiser International Classic 200 on September 1.

The Oswego Super Challenge points are decided using the ISMA/MSS points system, with the overall Challenge champion determined by the driver who accumulates the most points between both the top and tail wing configurations. Tyler Thompson (May 25) and Trent Stephens (June 1) are winners on the Challenge this season, but the top ten includes only the drivers who have competed in both legs of the Challenge: Shullick, Thompson, Danzer, Sitterly, Mike McVetta, Seitz, Mike Ordway Jr, Bellinger, John Colloca Racing, and Proud, respectively.

This weekend marks the first time in nearly five years, since Classic Weekend 2019, that both the ISMA/MSS Supermodifieds and Oswego Novelis Supermodifieds have competed on the same weekend at Oswego Speedway and several drivers are looking forward to doing double duty. While Saturday is just a regular Novelis Supermodified point show, drivers like Shullick, Thompson, Danzer, Sitterly, Seitz, Bellinger, and Proud must compete on Friday if they hope to stay in contention for the Challenge point standings. These teams will need to switch from top wing to tail wing after the action on Friday night to prepare for the regular program on Saturday.

Oswego Speedway has also decided to pay any out-of-state Supermodified teams competing on Friday $1,000 to start the regular Oswego Novelis Supermodified feature on Saturday. So far, at least Bourne, MA driver Ben Seitz and Vic Miller Racing are planning to take advantage. New York teams who start both nights will be paid $800 to start on Saturday as well, and every team will receive $1,200 to start the 50-lap, $7,000 to win ISMA/MSS event on Friday, regardless of Saturday plans.

Additionally, on Saturday, Team Abold Racing and Oswego Speedway will be giving away over 50 children's bikes during the autograph session. There will also be face painting, candy, and driver autographs.

A two-day GA ticket for the Super Spectacle is available for $45. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Speedway website and clicking "Buy Tickets." Kids 16 and under are FREE with a paid adult to both big events.
