Inside Line Promotions – WILMOT, Wis. (July 15, 2024) – Big Game Motorsports driver David Gravel recorded a trio of top-six finishes last week during three World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series races in Wisconsin.

The action started on Wednesday at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, where Gravel qualified fourth quickest and won a heat race. He placed third in the dash before ending the night sixth in the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial main event.

“The first night everything was going well,” he said. “We had a little malfunction and the left rear shock broke. Running sixth with three shocks is a good run, but obviously we weren’t happy because we should have been on the podium that night.”

The team ventured to Wilmot Raceway on Friday for the first night of the World of Outlaws Federated Auto Parts Larry Hillerud Memorial Badger 40. Gravel timed in ninth quickest overall before he advanced from third to second place in a heat race to make the dash. He picked up a pair of positions in the dash to finish fourth before gaining a spot in the A Main.

“We didn’t qualify exactly where we wanted to be, but we were able to race into the dash through the heat race,” he said. “We had an okay dash draw and gained a row there. In the feature I didn’t get a good start and was stuck on the outside and lost two spots. I had to race my butt off to get to third. I felt we were maybe good enough to run second, but ran out of time.”

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Wilmot Raceway, where Gravel qualified third quickest and won a heat race. He pulled the highest number – eight – during the dash draw.

“We qualified well and heat raced well, but it was a terrible dash draw and we only gained one spot,” he said. “I’d say we were our worst all week in that feature. We clawed our way to fifth. If we’re not happy with a fifth place, that shows where we are at as a team.”

Gravel currently owns a 58-point lead in the World of Outlaws championship standings.

This week features five straight races in Ohio starting on Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica for the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic. Eldora Speedway near Rossburg is the site of the following four nights with the $100,000-to-win Joker’s Jackpot featuring the Kubota High Limit Racing on Wednesday and Thursday followed by the $175,000-to-win Kings Royal featuring the World of Outlaws on Friday and Saturday.

“You just break up the week by the events,” Gravel said. “We start with Attica. That’s the hardest part of the week is racing at Attica, driving several hours and then getting set up at Eldora. We’ll get through the Brad Doty Classic first and then it’s separate events with Wednesday lining up Thursday. Really you’re just chasing money Wednesday to Saturday. You try to set yourself up to win these races. A lot of obstacles get thrown at you. You just have to try to stay focused at the task at hand.”
