Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (July 8, 2024) – Tim Estenson highlighted a three-race weekend by tying his career-best result at Huset’s Speedway on Sunday.
Estenson finished fifth at the high-banked track to remain third in the championship standings.
“I think it was really good,” he said. “Consistency has been key for us at Huset’s. I’d say it was one of my best nights there this year.”
Estenson qualified eighth quickest in his group and he won a heat race. He ranked ninth in overall points to start the main event on the inside of the fifth row. Estenson gained a couple of positions during the race before pouncing during a green-white-checkered finish to climb into the top five.
“We qualified pretty decent and got a good starting spot in the heat race and capitalized on that,” he said. “Jack (Dover) had the car pretty dialed in. I felt good and we were able to move forward throughout the race.”
Estenson also raced with the POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprints on Friday and Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., where he placed 14th both nights.
“Both nights were really similar,” he said. “We started out the night good, but I stepped on it in the feature both nights on a track that I’ve never really been good at. I just made too many mistakes. But we took what we could and went to somewhere familiar and capitalized on a good result on Sunday.”
Estenson will return to Huset’s Speedway this Sunday.
“I think it’s a really good confidence booster,” he said of his most recent race at the track. “We’re qualifying somewhat decent and getting better. We’re moving forward in most of them and our average finish is somewhere around seventh. We’ll just keep working at it and stay positive and hopefully continue with consistent results that will lead to some podiums and a win.”
