Robards paces RS12 Motorsports in Corn Belt Classic

The Spartan Transportation-backed RS12 Motorsports contingent competed at Coles County Speedway for two days over Independence Day weekend. On Friday and Saturday, each driver took on multiple stout fields of cars in the prestigious Corn Belt Classic at the 1/8-mile dirt oval in Mattoon, Illinois.

On Friday, Harrison Robards competed in both the A-Class Wing and Non-Wing Micro classes. He drove to a 17th-place result in the 20-lap A-Class feature and posted an 18th-place finish in the 25-lap, $1,000-to-win Non-Wing Micro A-Main.

The next night, Robards steered to 14th place in the 20-lap A-Class feature, but came up short of advancing to the 35-lap Non-Wing Micro main event after coming home seventh in his B-Main. Thirty-nine Non-Wing Micro drivers were at Coles County on Saturday seeking the $3,000 first-place check in the class.

Meanwhile, Zander LaRose also raced on both nights of the event in Junior Sprints. He notched a 12th-place result in Friday’s 15-lap A-Main, then finished 15th in Saturday’s 15-lapper due to a tumble when he couldn’t get around a car that had crashed in front of him. “Z-Man” walked away unscathed.
