Elma, WA -

On one of the warmest day of the year with temperatures in the low 90’s we had a great night of racing on Mid-season championship night. After 10 years Craigh Moore finally made it back to the top spot in the Modifieds, along with Destry Miller in the 360 Sprints, Chris Foster in the Limited Sprints, Austin Kerrigan in the SuperStocks, and Cory Sweatman in the Hornets.

In the IMCA Modifieds Brian Harding, and Lane Zerbin would lead the field to green for 25 laps for the final tuneup between next weeks big Modified Nationals event. Harding would get the lead and on lap two the action would come to a stop when Scott Miller would spin running 4th and Sorenson and Higgenbotton would come to a stop. On the restart the battle between Zerbin, Tole, Simpson, and Blood would be very good but Higgenbottom would bring out the caution. On the restart Tole who started 3rd got loose and lost a bunch of spots and then the field would get spread out for a few laps but on lap 7 Craig Moore would go up a line and really find speed and gain spots and get to 3rd and then a caution for Kevin Valen on lap 10 would bring out the caution again. On the next restart Craig Moore would get up to Brian Harding and challenge for the top spot and brief contact with the wall Moore would finally get to the lead on lap 13th and sail off to his first win in 10 years at Grays Harbor Raceway. There was a 4 car incident with Haney, Miller, Rognlin, and Hunt late that would setup a final restart where Moore would have to hold off your podium of Tyson Blood and Robert Jenner followed by Brian Harding in 4th and Lane Zerbin in 5th. Chris Lewis from California came from the B Main to finish 9th and your hard charger was Robert Jenner (+8). Heat race winners were Scott Miller, Jason Tole, Lane Zerbin, and Craig Moore.

In the 360 Sprints Destry Miller and Jeff Dunlap would lead the field to green with Destry leading all 20 laps to get his second win on the season here at Grays Harbor Raceway. Ashleigh Annstensen would challenge Dunlap for 2nd until having problems on lap 5 which would end her night. Rounding out the field would be Dunlap, Zylstra (in the Martin owned 51), and Reynold. Quick time was Destry Miller, and the heat race win was Ashleigh Anstensen.

Chris Foster and Steve Parker would lead the field to green in the Limited Sprints and Foster would get the jump and would not be challenged to lead all 25 laps to win his second race in a row at Grays Harbor Raceway. Xan Miller would recover from an early spin to get 2nd place followed by Samuel Strange, Steve Parker, and Zoey Tupper who was making her Grays Harbor Raceway Debut. Tough break for the point leader going into the night Keira Zylstra who could not avoid a spinning car in the heat race which would end her night before the main event. The quick time of the night went to Chris Foster, and the heat race win went to Samuel Strange.

Austin Kerrigan and Molalla Oregon’s Jesse Yankee led the field to green with Kerrigan taking the lead on the start. The battle for 2nd with Jesse Yankee, Larry Paladin, and Jeff Marson would be tight then Matt White and Shane Kerrigan would get into the mix dropping Paladin to 6th then he would get into the tire on lap 5. On the restart the visitors from Oregon Yankee and Marson would battle for 2nd and 3rd behind Austin Kerrigan with Matt White and Shane Kerrigan hot on their tails and their would be a couple cautions with Shane Kerrigan, Jesse Yankee and then Matt White and spins from Larry Paladin and Keith Marson. On the final restart Shane was able to get into second but wasn’t able to challenge his son Austin who led all 20 laps to pick up the win. Finishing behind the Kerrigan’s was Jeff Marson in 3rd, Jayson Wolcott in 4th and Larry Paladin in 5th. Heat race wins would go to Shane Kerrigan and Austin Kerrigan.

Max Sanford and Tyler Sundstrom led the field to the green in the Hornet division. Sanford took off and lead the first 10 leads while Pruett, Sundstrom, and Sheats battled it out for positions 2 to 4 while Cory Sweatman worked from the back of the field to the front and took the lead on lap 11 and took the win followed by Max Sanford, Landon Pruett, Tyler Sundstrom, and Nick Sheats. Heat race wins would go to Max Sanford, Cory Sweatman, and Tyler Sundstrom.
