Northwest Wingless Tour Gears Up For Round #4

Banks, Oregon- The Northwest Wingless Tour on Saturday May 18th will enter their fourth race of the 2013 season. It will be the second straight visit for the series at Sunset Speedway Park since they were on hand last week. The date will mark Fan Appreciation Night presented by Kenecht’s Auto Parts at the ¼-mile clay oval.
“The last time we visited Banks the track was prepped really well,” commented last week’s winner Sterling Kane, “we should have a good car count and another great race.”
The Northwest Wingless Tour has had three different winners in the first three races. Kyle Mehner and Kyle Miller won the first two races which took place at the Cottage Grove Speedway. Last week Sterling Kane held off a hard charging Mitch Hoffsess to earn his first series win of the year.
The Northwest Wingless Tour has made a total of thirteen visits to Banks since 2010. Gary Davis has the most series wins, with three, all coming in the year 2011. Sterling Kane joined Theo McCarty and Bill Winsley as drivers that have won two NWWT events at Banks. Mitch Hoffses, Ryan Bothwell, Mark Nichols, and Tony Thomas have won one main event each when the series has visited the Banks bullring.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. From April until October you can get your racing fix at this facility which competes weekly primarily on Saturday nights. Regular classes in action include the NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bee’s, NW Extreme Modifieds, and the Womens division.
