OSWEGO, NY (July 3, 2024) - Round 2 of the 19th Annual Novelis Fan Can Chase will continue at an exciting pace this weekend at the Oswego Speedway. Following a strong turnout on June 22nd, where 31,770 cans were collected, excitement is building for the next round on Saturday, July 6th, from 2:30 to 4:00pm outside the Speedway's main entrance.
Leading the charge once again is Jim Larkin, a 12-time champion of the Can Chase. Larkin has maintained his dominance by turning in 7,500 cans after Round 1. Following closely behind are Ernest Seymour with 4,000 cans, Marty Beeman with 2,255 cans, Ron Gunther with 2,100 cans, and Michael Cleary II with 2,000 cans, rounding out the top five.
Of course, the Novelis Fan Can Chase is not just about competition but also about community support. Every can donated contributes to a significant cause, benefiting local organizations such as Oswego Renaissance, P-TECH, Oswego County Opportunities, The Child Advocacy Center, and more. Proceeds from this initiative will culminate in the grand finale: the $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified Night on Saturday, August 10th.
As always, the top donor by Mr. Supermodified Night will have the choice of one of three grand prizes, including (2) 2025 Oswego Speedway regular season reserved tickets, (2) 2025 regular season pit passes, or (2) 2025 regular season Sky Deck Passes. Runners-up in final standings will also have opportunities to select from the remaining prizes.
All households donating 1,000 cans or more will receive (1) GA pass for the 68th annual edition of Budweiser International Classic Weekend this September.
Last fall, representatives from Novelis and Oswego Speedway presented Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) with a $10,000 donation for the agency’s Services to Aid Families (SAF) program. SAF provides crucial services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape crisis situations in Oswego County.
The Novelis Fan Can Chase has been a cornerstone of community engagement, raising over $185,000 to date for local organizations. This year promises to continue to exceed expectations with continued support from participants and sponsors alike.
