Inside Line Promotions – NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (July 2, 2024) – Big Game Motorsports driver David Gravel captured his 17th podium result of the season last Saturday during the World of Outlaws Independence Spectacular hosted by Cedar Lake Speedway.

The two-race weekend was cut in half after Friday’s program rained out. Gravel was efficient throughout Saturday’s show. He qualified third quickest and won a heat race – his 18th of the season – to advance into the dash. Gravel then finished where he started – second – to garner the outside front row starting position in the main event.

“I thought it went well drawing a late pill and qualifying well,” he said. “We won the heat race and got a good dash draw. The track had some character. We had some flashes of doing some good things, but came up a little bit short.”

Gravel battled between second and third throughout the race before ending third.

“There’s a couple of little things I could have done on the track different and the same with the car,” he said. “Logan (Schuchart) was really fast in open air. I felt we could keep up on the bottom, but it just seemed we couldn’t make as much speed on the top.

“It’s always good to be on the podium. We didn’t lead any laps, but we were close. It was a decent podium. We’re not ecstatic over it, but we’re not upset as well.”

Gravel will take this weekend off before resuming World of Outlaws competition July 10 at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis., during the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial and July 12-13 at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis., during the World of Outlaws Federated Auto Parts Larry Hillerud Memorial Badger 40.

Gravel currently leads the World of Outlaws championship standings by 58 points.
