Inside Line Promotions – ALGER, Wash. (July 2, 2024) – Trey Starks is heading to Skagit Speedway this Saturday for one last tune-up for the Bob’s Burgers & Brew Summer Nationals.

The marquee event that pays $15,000 to win – one of the biggest payouts across the country for 360ci winged sprint cars – will be hosted by the track during the final weekend of July.

“We’ll be using this Saturday as our last tune-up for the Summer Nationals,” he said. “We’ve had good success at the track this season, especially in our 360 car. Hopefully we can put together another strong night to head into Summer Nationals on a roll.”

Starks has won all three 360 sprint car races at Skagit Speedway this season to build a 68-point lead in the championship standings.

He competed in a 410 race at the track last Saturday, setting quick time in qualifying before advancing from fourth to third place in a heat race. Starks drew the outside front row for the main event.

“We had an initial start, which I got the lead,” he said. “Unfortunately, there was a caution before a lap was completed. We had a second start. Me and another driver were racing hard on the top when I got over the cushion and spun around. The caution came out and we went to the back. On the third start of the race, and I haven’t figured out how it happened, but we went to take off and right before we came out of turn four the car in front of me waved his hand and pulled out of the way so I pulled under him. We went into turn one and the car in front of me either stopped or was going caution speed. I climbed his left rear and tipped over. Then it started pouring.”

The feature was rained out before it was completed.
