The sprints had 28 entries which setup the 4 group format. Fast times in their groups were Seth Parker, Ivan Glotzbach, Harley Burns and Nathan Carle. Heat 1 Seth won his heat over Geoff Ensign, Tmez and Jack Hoyer. Ivan was able to win from the pole of heat 2 over Rylan Gray, Brandon Spencer and John Sluss. We are glad the drivers are okay from a wreck at the finish involving John Sluss Brandon Mattox and Weston Gorham. The 3rd heat Tye Mihocko came from 3rd to win it over Harley Burns, Zack Pretorius and Shawn Westerfield. The final heat was won by Brayden Fox over Nathan Carle, Austin Nigh and Kyle Johnson. As you can see it was a loaded field in the pits. The b main would take 5 after John had to scratch for the A with car damage from the heat. Nathan Schank won the B over Matt Goodnight, Brandon Mattox, Chance Crum and Ryan Barr transferring to the A. This setup the A main with Harley and Seth drawing the front row. Brayden and Tye drew the 2nd row. This was another 25 lap classic at LPS. Early you had a great battle between Seth in the 38p and Harley in the 16B. These 2 would battle early but the 24P was coming from 4th where he would take the lead from both of them and looked like he was going to be tough to beat. While Tye was leading Harley and Seth would sometimes go back and forth in the 2nd position. The field in the back also had a lot of dicing going on. Chance Crum started 20th and by lap 15 was up to 12th already. The closing 5 laps were wild but Tye Mihocko was able to hold off the charges of the top 3. Tye was the winner in dynamic fashion over Seth Parker, Harley Burns, Brayden Fox, Geoff Ensign, Rylan Gray, Ivan Glotzbach, Jack Hoyer, Chance Crum(from 20th) and Shaun Westerfield. We appreciate all 28 teams that put on a dandy just 1 week before the big one. Thanks to the Burg regulars for making the trip to LPS also. We hope our local heroes do well next Friday and Saturday for the Bill Gardner Sprintacular weekend.
The UMP Mods had a field of 16 with Tyler Loughmiller and Derek Losh setting fast times in their groups. Heat race 1 Jerry Bland Jr. was able to use the high groove to get the early lead and he would win it over Brayden Doyle and Tyler Loughmiller. Heat race 2 Derek would win from the pole over Matt Mitchell and Will Bennett. The front row of the feature would have bad luck. Jerry Bland had a good run going in 3rd but the car spun on him in turn 2. Derek Losh in the lead with about 5 laps to go got a right rear flat. This gave the lead to Matt Mitchell last years champ who looked to be on his way for the win. On the final lap a spinning car brought out a yellow with 1 lap to go. This was then going to be a shootout for 1 lap and Will Bennett got the top side to work really well on the cushion and would make the pass for the win over Matt Mitchell, Cody Wright, Rob Fuqua and Tyler Loughmiller.
The UMP Super stocks had a field of 12 with Justin Massie and Matt Raber setting the fast times in their groups. Heat race 1 Justin was able to hold of Travis Heramb and Ryan Freeland for the win. Heat race 2 had Wade Goodale take the win over Matt Raber and Devin Wallen. This setup the A main and Wade and Justin drew the front row. The 55J of Justin Massie was on a rail from the start of the 20 lap A main and put on a clinic hitting his marks at the top almost every lap. The final 5 laps of the A he was over a straightaway ahead of 2nd place. Justin crossed the line for another big UMP win and those 75 points over Devin Wallen, Wade Goodale, Travis Heramb and Larry Raines.
The Bombers had a strong field of 20. Fast times in their groups were Corey Anstead, Tyler Rodgers and Chucky Walden. Heat race wins went to Josh Foxworthy, Cameron Carrington and Chucky Walden. We are glad all the drivers are okay after a scary 4 car battle in heat race 2 with Tyler flipping just passed the flagstand. This bomber class puts on an outstanding show every week and when they went 4 wide out of turn 4 we were all holding our breath thankfully everyone was okay. The feature had Dad and Son the Foxworthy’s on the front row. Josh would take the lead and when he is up front he is very hard to catch. He did hold on for the win over Corey Anstead, Cameron Carrington, Chucky Walden and Randy Foxworthy holding on for 5th. Josh said in his interview he is running for the championship. A great show again by all of the Bombers.
The IMCA Mod Lites had 12 entries for the night. Heat race 1 went to Brenden McGlothlin over Brandon Freeburg and Donavan Hix. Heat race 2 went to Billy Robinson over Joe Boyll and Paul Sipes. The feature Brandon Freeburg came from 3rd to win it and built a good lead at the finish over Brenden McGlothlin, Joe Boyll, Zach Malone and Jimmy Arthur. Zach got the hard charger coming from 11th to 4th. Thanks to all the teams that put on an outstanding show at LPS in front of our awesome crowd for fireworks night!! Next Thursday the Usac Silver Crown is at Terre Haute and then next Friday and Saturday the Bill Gardner Sprintacular at LPS will be once again a great weekend in honor of our friend!!
