COLUMBUS, Ind. (07/02/24) – Gunnar Setser drove to his first win of the 2024 season on Wednesday night with the NOW600 HART Indiana Micro Week victory at Bartholomew County Fairgrounds' Tony Stewart Speedway aboard his Midwest Tube Mills / Setser Fabricating No. G5 Lineman Motorsports Micro.

The flag-to-flag triumph was a special moment for the 15-year-old as he enjoyed the victory in front of his hometown crowd.

“I want to thank everyone that helped me get to this point and all my sponsors who support my team,” Setser said. “This year has been a learning experience for me but I am very happy with the progress we have made. To get to celebrate this win with all my friends and family is pretty awesome.”

Among a field of 28 HART Non-Wing Micro entries on Wednesday night at Bartholomew County Fairgrounds' Tony Stewart Speedway (Columbus, Ind.), Setser put on an impressive show in his Midwest Tube Mills No. 5G entry shortly after unloading at the quarter-mile oval.

Following a fourth-to-first run in his heat race, Gunnar soared into the lead on the second lap of the feature and ran away with his first win of the season. He took the checkers 0.266-seconds ahead of Daniel Robinson in the 20-lapper with Ricky Thornton Jr. rounding out the podium.

Earlier in the week, Gunnar opened the busy stretch with a 17th-place showing at Miami County Raceway (Peru, Ind.) on Monday before Tuesday’s event fell to weather. After Wednesday’s victory, Setser added a fourth-place finish at Circle City Raceway (Indianapolis, Ind.) on Thursday night.

A rain shower on Saturday afternoon forced track and series’ officials to cancel the NOW600 HART Indiana Micro Week finale at Rush County Speedway (Rushville, Ind.).

Setser now shifts his focus to the upcoming POWRi National Midget Series doubleheader at Lake Ozark Speedway (Eldon, Mo.). The Independence Celebration on Friday and Saturday will see the stars of the POWRi National and West Midget leagues converge at the third-mile oval.
