Blue Springs, Missouri's Waylon Phillips made the short trip to Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex (Sweet Springs, Mo.) over the weekend to continue his stellar start to the 2024 season.
In only his second night out in his new motor, Phillips made a valiant effort in the Outlaw Non Wing feature to challenge front-runner Brian Lunsford for the lead but couldn't quite get past. He ended the 20-lapper in second, chasing Lunsford to the checkers.
Going back-to-back in the Community Bank Non Wing Micro ranks, Waylon went fourth-to-first in his heat before cruising to a flag-to-flag victory in the main event. He finished 3.716 seconds ahead of Trey Schleicher with Jesse Pate joining the podium.
The repeat victory at the Missouri oval marked Phillips' fourth of the 2024 campaign.
