After some time off due to bad weather, the Advanced Fastening Supply Badger Midget Auto Racing Association will be back in action this Saturday and Sunday, June 29 and 30, at Beaver Dam Raceway and Angell Park Speedway respectively. In advance of the July 4th holiday, both tracks will be holding fireworks displays after the races.
This big doubleheader weekend offers fans near and far a chance to see the famed midget racing organization run two nights in a row, at tracks 25 minutes apart from each other. It's a perfect scenario for bucket-listers to check another one off their scorecards.
In Beaver Dam on Saturday, there is another celebration beyond the fireworks, as this is the Wipperfurth Memorial Race. Sun Prairie's Jim Wipperfurth was a skilled welder and a welcome addition to any pit area. When his son Joe was old enough to get behind the wheel of open wheel cars, Jim was always at his side be it in a midget with Badger or an MSA Sprint Car. In 2007, when Jim passed away, due to a heart attack, it was doing what he loved, watching Joe race at Beaver Dam Raceway.
Saturday, the Badger Midgets will be on the card with the IRA Sprint Cars and Wisconsin wingLESS Sprints. This event will also be available live on FloRacing.
On Sunday, they'll clean the cars off and be ready for Angell Park Speedway and their popular Sun Prairie Fireworks Celebration race. This event will feature the BMARA and the Wisconsin wingLESS Sprints. The race will be live on BadgerRacing.TV .
Cody Weisensel leads the Badger contingent into the weekend with a 23 point advantage over Matt Rechek. Rechek, who is a fan favorite at Beaver Dam, being from there and having raced modifieds at BDR regularly, looks to repeat his April win at the track.
Meanwhile, Weisensel, who ran second at Beaver Dam in the spring race, looks to be one better and score his first career Badger feature win. The Sun Prairie product will have the stands packed with fans come Sunday at Angell Park.
Please see the media outlets of both tracks for official times, pricing and updates.
