Southwest Region turns to Central Arizona Raceway

Bryan Hulbert - TULSA, Okla. (May 13, 2013) The Hose Advantage Store Southwest Region continues the 2013 season to the Central Arizona Raceway in Casa Grande, Ariz. for a single night appearance on Saturday, May 18.

What was thought would not happen until 2014 became a reality last week as the management of the Central Arizona Raceway confirmed with Southwest Regional Director, Roger Troops the Saturday date.

Thanks go out Chad Ayers and Benji Lyons.

On a bit of a hot streak with the Hose Advantage Store Southwest Region, Lorne Wofford has taken wins in his last two starts. Both coming at the Tucson International Raceway, the Alamogordo, N.M. driver will try to carry his momentum to the high-banked, three-eighths mile oval. Mired sixth in points after missing events at the Cocopah Speedway, Wofford is the second repeat winner in 2013.

Still atop the standings, Rick Ziehl has not finished outside the top five in his past three starts with the Hose Advantage Store Southwest Region. Already a winner at the Central Arizona Raceway in open competition on April 20, Ziehl will look to build his advantage towards a sixth straight Southwest Regional title.

Billy Chester holds the runner up spot in driver standings with Lance Norick, Joshua Williams, and Kaylene Verville making up the top five.

Events at the Central Arizona Raceway are scheduled to begin at 7:00 P.M. (MT) with gates opening at 4:00 P.M. The Saturday, May 18 card will include Mini-Sprints, X-Mods, Dwarf Cars along with the Hose Advantage Store Southwest Region for “Armed Forces Appreciation Night”.
