18 cars signed in to the Plymouth Dirt Track for race #3 of the 2024 season. Quick time honors were captured by the #16 of Mike Neau. In heat race action, Max Brannam held of an early charge from Neau and brought home the victory in Allstar Performance Heat #1. Josh Rehberg, after returning from a nasty last lap wreck in the previous outing at Wilmot Raceway, was able to lead early but could not hold off the blue and orange machine of Nick Petska as Petska would claim Rod End Supply Heat #3 - his 3rd heat win of the season. The number 5 pill was drawn setting up a deep 10 car invert for the feature which saw father and son pace the field with the elder Ron Brannam on the pole and Tim Brannam on the outside. It would be Tim Brannam grabbing the initial lead with 4th starter Jordan Funderburk and 10th starting Neau giving chase. Brannam would start to encounter lapped traffic on lap 8 and get into heavy traffic on lap 11 with the top 5 cars all bunched up. It would be 7th starting Brian Strane Jr in the 22s that would benefit from the traffic as he moved into 3rd on lap 10 and then went from 3rd to 1st on lap 12 and check out on the field. Strane would go on to win by a 5 second margin over Mark Heinert, Petska, Tim Brannam, and Neau. He would also grab the Weld Racing Hard Charger at +6. The win would be the 3rd in a row for Strane Jr. as the 14 year old is undefeated in ILS competition thus far in 2024.
The ILS will be back in action at Wilmot Raceway in support of the USAC 410 non-wing sprint cars on Saturday, June 22nd.
