IRA Invaides Indiana for Maverick Mayhem

The Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Car Series teams up this week with the Maverick Winged Sprint Series for a FOUR DAY Swing through Indiana for Maverick Mayhem starting this Thursday June 20th.

This will be the first time The Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Car Series will be back in the state of Indiana since a 2001 event at Benton County, IN won by Jim Moughan followed by Donny Geoden and John Haeni. Across the 4 dates The Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint series will be making its first appearances at 3 of the 4 venues including Lincoln Park Speedway, Bloomington Speedway and Tri-State Speedway. Bloomington and Tri-State will also be inaugural stops for the Maverick Winged Sprint Car Series having previously contested 1 event each at Lincoln Park and Terre Haute.

The series’ opening night stop will be at Lincoln Park Speedway. The first Maverick WInged Sprint Car Series event was contested here on 10/6/23 won by Cale Thomas followed by 10x IRA Champion Bill Balog and 2023 IRA Rookie of the Year and Champion Brenham Crouch. Brenham is planning to run all 4 events of Maverick Mayhem. Pit Gate will open at 4pm. Race teams please be aware we do have an active quarry behind us that utilizes our asphalt pit drive until 4pm. Pit Admission $40/10 & under free, Main Gate will open 5pm, General Admission $30/10 & under free, Hot Laps 6:30pm, with racing at 7:30pm. Drivers are already beginning to commit to competing that night such as Brady Bacon and The Tyler Sturgeon Racing driver Trey McGranahan. Thomas Meseruall of USAC racing fame has stated his intention to return to competition this week racing all 4 of these events.

The series will then bring the Thunder to Friday Night with its second stop at the ‘Midwest's fastest 1/4-mile’ dirt oval of Bloomington Speedway. Winged sprint car history runs deep in the town of Bloomington, IN as it is the home of several members of the “Kinser Clan” including Steve and Bob. This event is slated to be a special one as this is also “The Salute to Kevin Huntley” for the 305 winged sprint cars. The “Pup” won his last sprint car race in a 305 at Bloomington Speedway his hometown track, Kevin was a legend in his own right as a long time All Star Circuit of Champions competitor with 44 All Star wins to his credit and 2 series championships in 1992 and 1993. One-lap track record was back in 2019 by C.J. Leary with 10.685 seconds. Pits will open at 4:00 PM, Gates Open at 5:00 PM, Hot Laps At 6:30 PM, Racing Starts at 7:15 PM.

After that, Saturday June 22nd’s action will be hosted at the quarter sized-high banked dirt oval of Tri-State Speedway located in Southern Indiana. The Maverick & IRA Winged Sprints make their debut at Tri-State Speedway with $6,000 to win! Plus racing action from the MMSA Mini Sprints. This event is sponsored by Working Distributors. Hot Laps 6 PM, Racing 7:30 PM (Central), General Admission Ticket info; Adults $30, Students (ages 13-18) $20, Children ages 12 & under are FREE! Pits (all ages) $40

The Maverick Mayhem action concludes on Sunday June 23rd at the Terre Haute Action Track. Terre Haute Action Track also known as “The Action Track” is a half-mile dirt racetrack located at the Vigo County, Indiana, fairgrounds in the U.S. Route 41 along the south side of Terre Haute, Indiana. The Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint series has previously contested one event at Terre Haute Action Track on 4/10/99 won by Australian Skip Jackson followed by Donnie Beechler and Donny Geoden to round out the podium. There were a total of 42 cars present for this event. Already in 2024 the Maverick Winged Sprint Car Series has contested one event at “The Action Track” won by Jacob Allen followed by Rico Abreu and Kevin Thomas Jr. Pits Open at 2:00 PM, Gates Open at 4:00 PM, Hot Laps at 6:00 PM, Racing Starts at 7:00 PM

Come see the cars and stars of both the IRA Sprint Car Series and the Maverick Winged Sprint Car Series. Series regulars such as Danny Schlaffer, Austin Hartmann, Jordan Goldesberry, Kevin Newton, Kyle Schuett, Kris Spitz who are looking to capitalize on some new tracks for their teams. As well as Scotty Theil and Jake Neuman are looking to add another tally to the win category this season. Our rookies are ready as well such as Logan Julien and Tylar Rankin who can capitalize on the half mile and bullring. It’s anyone’s game during the four day streak against the Maverick Winged Sprints drivers.
