SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (June 17, 2024) - Thiel’s decision to join FAST on Dirt for a short stint of Ohio Sprint Speedweek certainly paid off, not only acquiring four straight top-ten appearances in his four-day run, but ultimately concluding his Buckeye State visit with a top-five at Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio, on Friday, June 14. Thiel, an IRA Outlaw Sprint Series full-timer in 2024, finished fourth in his top-five appearance, leading the first eight circuits before surrendering the top spot to eventual Speedweek champion, Cap Henry.
In addition, Thiel, driver of the Team 73, Gibbsville Cheese, Professional Plating Inc, Ludwig & Sons Trucking, Total Restoration Services, Scott Thiel Builders, Lift Pro, Schmidts Landscaping, Complete Water, Iron Buffalo Saloon, GRP Motorsports, Lake Home Retreats, Elliott Family, Diamond Pools, No. 73 sprint car, finished tenth at Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, Ohio, on Tuesday, June 11, ninth at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, on Wednesday, June 12, and tenth at Muskingum County Speedway in Dresden, Ohio, on Thursday, June 13.
Unfortunately, Thiel’s return to IRA competition at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wisconsin, on Saturday, June 15, ended with a ‘DNF,’ a heavy wheel vibration due to mud being the culprit.
“Overall, a consistent Ohio Sprint Speedweek for Team 73. Happy to put together four solid nights, just needed a little bit more on Friday at Millstream,” Thiel added. “We have another big week ahead with the IRA. Excited to get back to Indiana and compete on some of those bullrings. It should be a lot of fun.”
