Bristol, WI – May 8, 2013. The Bill and the B2 Motorsports team left Wisconsin early Friday morning to head to a sunny Eldora Speedway this past weekend to take on the World of Outlaws. With the trip being the first ever visit to the famed half-mile facility, the team knew that it was going to be an uphill battle as they were set to take on the world’s toughest sprint car drivers at one of the trickiest high banked ovals in the world. Bill would lay down the 30th fastest lap on 39 cars on Friday night and set himself up with a 8th place starting position on the second heat race. The team made some changes for the heat race, but lost a position and finished in the 9th position sending the 17B sprinter to the B-main. After some more adjustments, Bill would line up in the 10th starting position where he would run most of the race and finish in the 11th position ending his night.
Saturday night the team pulled into the race track hoping for some better results, but the results would be similar as the night before. After qualifying 29th quickest, Bill would once again line up in the 8th starting position making his way into 7th on the start. Halfway through Tony Stewart would stop on the racetrack bringing out a caution and setting up a double file restart. On the restart Bill would surge into the 5th position for the final transfer position, but Dale Blaney used his experience at the high banked half mile and took the transfer position away sending Bill back to the B-main for the second straight night. Still searching for speed, the crew made some more changes to the car to start in the 9th in the B-main to try and get some more laps at the track and hopefully make it into the feature. Bill was riding around in the 8th position most of the first half of the B-Main changing his racing lines to try and find a faster way around the track until something went wrong in turn 3 and 4 causing the car to skid in front of Randy Hannigan causing contact and ending the night for the 17B.
Bill and the B2 Motorsports team will be back on track this weekend as they have another double-header with the World of Outlaws. First up is the clay covered asphalt track of the Elko Speedway in Elko, MN on Friday, May 10th. Bill has been victorious at this track in the past with the Interstate Racing Association. On Saturday, May 11th, the team will head south down Interstate 35 to the Sprint Car Capital of the World, the Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA. The following weekend the team will be back close to home taking on the Interstate Racing Association at the Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI where Bill was victorious 2 weeks ago in the series’ opener.
