With last Friday’s AutoMeter Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Car Series event at Eagle Valley Speedway being abandoned due to rain, the series turned its attention to Cedar Lake Speedway and Angell Park Speedway this past weekend.
Saturday’s action at Cedar Lake saw a wide and smooth track surface with multiple lanes of racing and provided some fantastic action. Drivers from the UMSS Traditional Sprints ranks joined the series to make up a 34 car strong field.
Jimmy Sivia took the night’s feature event win, and in doing so, the series points lead. Ryan Marshall finished 2nd after flipping wildly at Wilmot just one week ago, and Eric Wilke rounded out the night’s podium. Austin Hansen, Zach Raidart, Allen Hafford, Tristan Furseth, Chris Lewis, Jori Hughes, and Brad Peterson completed the Top 10 runners. Wilke, Tyler Kuxhouse, Marshall and Sivia took heat race wins with Zach Widdes capturing the B Feature win.
The Wisconsin wingLESS Sprints then trucked south to the historic Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI for a Sunday night feature alongside the MSA 360 Sprints and Badger Midgets. 25 drivers checked in for a night of racing on a cowboy up and technical race track.
The #23Z of Zach Raidart dominated the early portion of the 20 lap main event, while Tommy Colburn fended off a hard charging Kuxhouse, Greg Alt and Hansen for 2nd. On lap 8, Kuxhouse made contact with Colburn while racing for the runner up spot and the #1 spun to a stop in turn 4 collecting the #0 of Johnny Fahl in the process. When the race restarted, Kuxhouse reeled in Raidart and powered through the middle of the speedway to take the lead with just 4 laps to go, and held on to take his first win of the 2024 season. Raidart finished 2nd ahead of Delmar, IA driver Miles Doherty in 3rd. Sivia finished 4th to extend his points lead over 5th place finishing and now 2nd in points Tristan Furseth, with Alt, Wilke, Marshall, Ryan Zielski, and Jake Kouba rounding out the top 10.
Colburn, Alt and Raidart all scored Heat victories on Sunday night.
The AutoMeter Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Series return to action this Saturday night at the Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, WI for “Family Night.” Tickets are available at the gate or through the track’s website and the My Race Pass app. Gates are set to open at 5PM with on track action set for 5:45PM.
