This Saturday’s “Billet Cup” at Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif. offers Ryan Bernal another change to build on his growing 2013 repertoire which already includes six USAC main event wins. He enters the event with a 30-point lead over Richard Vander Weerd in the USAC West Coast Sprint Car standings.
Bernal, of Hollister, Calif., is three wins behind Bryan Clauson in the 2013 USAC season as those two have blistered the competition so far.
Bernal remains undefeated in the 2013 USAC Western Classic Sprint Series after winning Saturday night’s 30-lap race at Placerville (Calif.) Speedway. He trailed Max Adams for four laps, then led the final 26 in his King Racing Products/A & A Precision Machine Spike/Raney. James Sweeney finished second ahead of Adams, fast qualifier D.J. Johnson and Jim Trulli.
So far this year Bernal has recorded three West Coast Sprint wins at Tulare and one at Bakersfield and will be aiming for a third consecutive series win at Hanford.
Bernal’s 26-point Western Classic Sprint point lead will carry to the next event on June 14 at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif.
