The LPS pits were loaded again with 101 entries for Saturday Night. 26 sprints entered the gates and the 3 fast times would be Nic Harris, Kyle Shipley and Brandon Spencer. The format was top 5 out the heats with the top 2 drawing out of the orange 04 sock with 5 coming from the B also to get in the final spots. Heat race 1 had Joey Amantea winning on the top groove over Daylan Chambers, Lee Dakus, Lee Underwood and Blake Vermillion. Heat race 2 had Kyle Shipley winning from the pole over Jesse Vermillion, Harley Burns, Ivan Glotzbach and Austin Nigh. The final heat had Tye Mihocko winning it over Brandon Spencer, Frankie Guerrini, Brayden Fox and Bryan Brewer. The 2 that drew the top 2 spots for the feature were Jesse Vermillion and Joey Amantea. The B main was won by Seth Parker over Aaron Davis, Kaiden Manders, Nic Harris and Zack Pretorius. This setup the 25 lap A main and you could tell the 24P was ready to pounce after finishing 2nd the night before by just inches at the Josh Burton Memorial. Tye was headed to the front from the 3rd spot and he would build a lengthy lead by the halfway point. Seth Parker was putting on a fantastic show on the cushion from 16th he was up to 5th with 5 laps to go. The final 5 laps Tye would hit his marks and hold on for the win over Brandon Spencer, Kyle Shipley, Seth Parker and Joey Amantea. Thanks to all the teams for another great show at LPS.
The UMP Mods had a great field of 22 in attendance. Fast times were Matt Jordan, Jimmy Hayden and Cody Wright. The 3 heat races were won by Richie Lex, Matt Mitchell and Bradon Berry. This setup the A main and the lucky draw of the front row was Brayden Watson and Joey Iliff. Brayden looked strong during the 20 lap A main and held on for the win over Bradon Berry, Richie Lex, Matt Mitchell and Steven Brooks.
The UMP Super Stocks had 14 entries and the 2 fast times were Wade Goodale and Jordan Almanza. Heat race 1 was won by Larry Raines over Wade Goodale and Nick Kinnett. Heat race 2 was won by Ryan Freeland over Jordan Almanza and Justin Massie. This setup the A main and the front row would be Jordan and Wade. This 20 lapper would be controlled by the 14G of Wade Goodale who finally got some of the bad luck to stop and he looked strong all 20 laps and took the big win over Justin Massie, Devin Wallen, Larry Raines and Travis Heramb.
The Bombers had a strong field of 16 entries with fast times going to Chucky Walden and Jordan Almanza. Heat race wins went to Cameron Carrington and Josh Foxworthy. This setup the A main and the lucky poker chip draw went to Chucky Walden and Josh Foxworthy. Josh would once again really look strong in the #38 and pull off another win in the 15 lap A main. Following Josh Foxworthy at the finish it was Jordan Almanza, Cameron Carrington, Tyler Rodgers and Chucky Walden. This class is always super competitive and looking at the points we have 4 drivers within 6 points of each other.
The USAC Thunder Midget Series had 23 entries and this class put on an excellent show. The 3 fast times went to Bryan Fleming, Alex Watson and Josh Yenser. The 3 heat races went to Jacob Boxell, Tate Martz and Zach Wigel. This setup the A main and the front 2 lucky draws went to Josh Yenser and Alex Watson. This 25 lap race had a lot of lead changes and multiple cars from the back that were headed to the front. Cale Coons who started 21st in the feature was up to 3rd with just 5 laps to go. Ian Creager was able to repair his car after a flip in his heat and he had came from 23rd to 13th. Tate Martz took the lead with just a few laps to go from his 8th starting spot and on the final laps would hold on for the win over Cale Coons, Jacob Boxell, Josh Yenser, Cole Morgan and Alex Watson. Thanks to all the 23 Thunder Midgets that showed up at LPS and put on an outstanding show. This is a great series with a ton of talent showcasing their fields. Next week the Super Late Models come to Bloomington Friday Night for a big show and Saturday Night at LPS it is the return of the Indiana RaceSavers along with our other 4 great classes.
