Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (May 28, 2024) – Tim Estenson highlighted Memorial Day Weekend with the second-best result of his career at Huset’s Speedway on Monday.

Estenson qualified fifth quickest and won a heat race to advance into the feature redraw during the Metro Construction Memorial Day Doubleheader presented by DKW Transport finale.

“It was a lot better on Sunday as we got a better pill draw and were able to qualify really good,” he said. “Jack (Dover) made some more changes. We were able to capitalize to get the heat race win to get into the feature redraw. Unfortunately, I drew the No. 8 – the worst you can get – but we moved forward in the feature early. I got a couple of spots and then there was a red. Two guys in front of me got crossed up on the restart. It was either hit them or avoid them. I avoided, but hit the cone on the frontstretch so on a late caution I got docked two spots. I went from fifth to seventh.”

Estenson finished in that position to post his second top 10 of the season at Huset’s Speedway, where he also competed on Sunday.

“The first night we went out late in qualifying and it was tough to keep up with the track and we weren’t able to get in the top 10 or top 12 in our group,” he said. “In the heat race the track was singled out on the bottom so it was tough to pass and we were buried. It was the same in the B Main.”

Estenson qualified 15th quickest in his group. He placed eighth in both a heat race and a B Main.

The weekend got off to a delayed start as Friday’s POWRi 410 Bandit Outlaw Sprint Series race at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Mo., rained out. Estenson joined the series on Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo. He qualified sixth quickest and finished third in a heat race before ending 12th in the main event.

“It was a good start to the night,” he said. “We had a good pill draw and qualified really good. We had speed all night and in the feature I struggled mostly reading the track and putting my car in the spots it needed to be. It was a learning night that will help when we return to Lake Ozark.”

Estenson will join the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series this Friday and Saturday at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis., during the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial before returning to Huset’s Speedway on Sunday. He ranks ninth in the Huset’s Speedway championship standings, but is only 33 points out of the lead.

“We have speed,” he said. “It’s just putting the full 25 or 30 laps in the last race of the night together to contend for top fives and wins. I know we can do it. We’ll just keep working at it and it’ll fall into place.”
