Dover opens MSTS 360 season with Norfolk victory
The 2024 season for the Gunderson Racing Midwest 360 Sprint Touring Series powered by Cressman Sanitation opened Saturday at Off Road Speedway. At the end of the night a very familiar name was in victory lane – Jack Dover.
Brant O’Banion, a native of Norfolk, Nebraska, raced to the initial lead of the 25-lap feature. His progress was not slowed as the leaders entered lap traffic and he continued to pull away from the rest of the field. However, a pair of race stoppages erased that lead. The yellow flag waved for Adam Walton who hit an infield tire. The red flag waved for Rick Hanson who flipped in turn one. He was okay.
That set the race up for an eight-lap dash to the $2,000 win. Dover, who had made his was to second from the sixth starting position, wasted no time on the restart sneaking to the inside of O’Banion and taking the lead at the exit of turn two. He’d go to the win from there. Dover now has 38 career wins with the MSTS – six of them coming at the Off Road Speedway. Both of those marks are best in each category.
Behind the lead duo, the racing remained tight with Chase Porter zipping into the top three in the closing laps. Sam Henderson and Stuart Snyder completed the top five.
The Gunderson Racing MSTS 360s are back in action this Friday at the Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota. The entire 2024 calendar for both MSTS 360s and 410s is available at www.msts360.com.
