Butler, Mo: Friday night at Electric City Speedway the probable outcome became the Improbable one when Wesley Smith of (Nixa, Missouri) worked his way from 10th to 1st to win his 2nd Wholesale Batteries USAC MWRA points race in 2024, and his 12th overall in series history driving the Brent Lewis Racing number 2, over (Topeka, Kansas) chauffeur Wyatt Burks, (Camden, Mo’s) Michael Moore, Kobe Simpson (Bonham, Texas), and Zach Clark, (Raymore, Mo) rounding out the top 5.

With Chad Winfrey, (Gladstone, Mo), Mark Lane, (Grain Valley, Mo) Junior Parkinson, (Wichita Falls, Tx), Luke Howard, (Overland Park, Ks), and Taylor Walton, (Odessa, Mo) completing the top 10 on a wild night of racing that saw three cars flip in the feature, Kory Scudy, (Battlefield, Mo), Dakota Earls, (Independence, Mo) and finally with five laps to go Walton. All drivers were okay, but their cars all received significant damage. While leader for almost the entire distance Howard dropped out with a couple laps left after being passed by Smith following the final restart of the 25 lapper.

If that wasn’t enough of the improbable, Smiths race to the front from 10th to earn the (Country Day Care Kids of Olathe) Hard Charger Award certainly was. Smith, had a horrible run in the second heat after shock issues left him with an ill handling race car and a sub par 5th place finish. But rebounded with an excellent run in the feature on a technical track to win his first feature event for Lewis, and Lewis’s first feature event as a car owner racing with the MWRA. Afterwards Smith was quoted as saying, “Usually when we start towards the back the night typically doesn’t end up well. But, tonight the Lewis Sprint Car was ready to go, and we took full advantage of our opportunities to win the race.” Turning the improbable into the probable.

On a night where bad luck was certainly plentiful, performances by Burks in 2nd, Moore (3rd), Simpson (4th), and Clark (5th) nonetheless stood out. Burks run to second followed a third place finish last week at Valley, and moved him to first place in points at this time.Moore’s 3td place go represented his first podium with the MWRA, and also included a heat race win. While Simpson’s long trip from Texas also proved to be fruitful winning his heat as well, before running fourth. And Clark’s fifth place run was his second of the 2024 season.

The Wholesale Batteries USAC MWRA Sprint Cars are once again in action tonight at Electric City Speedway. Pit Gates and Grandstand open at 5. Drivers Meeting at 6:30. Hot Laps at 7.
