Coming off a victory in early April in his first start of the season, Waylon Phillips returned to action on Saturday evening pulling double duty at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex (Blue Springs, Mo.).
Following an eighth-to-fourth run in the Non Wing Outlaw Micro A-Main, Phillips raced into the Non Wing Micro A-Main with a flag-to-flag victory in his heat race. Taking part in a heated battle with Quinton Benson, Waylon steered to a second-place finish after the duo exchanged sliders throughout the 30-lapper. He trailed Benson across the line with Jesse Pate rounding out the podium.
