It’s been one week since Tim Fuller, Ryan Shanahan, Josh Verne Jr., Damien Bechler, and Logan Brown went to victory lane at Can-Am Speedway on May 3rd. So what have our drivers been doing with a week off.
Well most notably Tim Fuller our reigning Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modified track champion, took a trip to Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh for the Leon Gonyo Memorial. The trip from Watertown paid off as he took the $4,444 victory, ahead of veteran Mario Clair and Super DIRTCar Series Sophomore Felix Roy. Our own Preston Forbes also had a strong showing with a 5th place finish in the 40 lapper.
The racing action on home turf this weekend, sees a close battle in the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modifieds with Tim Fuller leading the way by 8 points with opening day winner Billy Dunn and 2009 358 Modified Champion Lance Willix tied for second place. 2019 track champion Ryan Arbuthnot sits 4th with veteran Scott Webb completing the top 5.
After his win on May 3rd Carthage New York’s Ryan Shanahan leads the way in the Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman. Tyler Corcoran, Mike Fowler, Gavin Eisele and Brennan Moore are separated by a slim 12 points.
In the Panther Frame Worx Crate Sprints Josh Verne Jr. is in search of his third straight title and leads the standings by 8 points over opening day winner Tucker Donath with veteran Ken Klinkowsky in third. Verne claimed his division leading 12th career win the last time out.
Eight points separate the top 4 drivers in the Sundance Leisure Thundercar division. Damien Bechler won on May 3rd and leads by 2 points over defending champion Francis White with 2021 Champion Tony Frezzo 4 points back in third, while opening day winner Lyle Robinson is 4th, just 8 points behind the leader. Rookie Kayden Paquette completes the top 5.
Logan Brown is undefeated in the Donath Motor Worx Limited Sportsman division and looks to keep his Sportsman win record in tact as he goes for 3 in a row. Anthony Brownell, Kyle Reif and Genavieve Bartlett will have their say and look to stop the streak this Friday.
It is Youth Sports Night and those who belong to a local sports team are encouraged to show up to the track in their team uniform for FREE General Admission. A full show is slated for the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modifieds, Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman, Panther Frameworx 602 Crate Sprint Cars, Sundance Leisure Thundercars, and the Donath Motor Worx Limited Sportsman. The General Admission gates open at 5pm with the first green flying at 7pm, as the Golden Jubilee Season marches on.
