Wayne Helliwell Jr. the three time and defending NASCAR Whelen All-American New Hampshire state champion will not defend his title in 2013.
Citing multiple conflicting Friday night events Helliwell will not pilot the Witkum Brothers, Scherbon Consolidated 350 Supermodified as planned.
Helliwell's attempt at a record 9th track title at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH will not happen in 2013. As the amount of conflicting Friday nights has grown from what was originally planned. "There was at a minimum two races i would miss with family obligations and the direction we are taking the late model in this year. That number has continued to grow as of late to as many four… There is to much time and effort that goes into these cars to not allow the Team to run for a championship," stated the Dover, NH driver.
A Witkum Brothers Racing Team that has shown incredible consistency over the last two years only finishing outside the top ten twice in that span. Taking home 7-wins including the $5,000 to win Money Bags 100 in 2012 and the track championship in 2011.
Helliwell remains thankful for the effort that was put forth by everyone involved. "I have to thank Ed, Bobby, and all the guys on the Team for what they've done for me. As well as Scott Scherbon with Scherbon Consolidated Inc, Locke Crane Service, Westford Glass, Witkum Flooring, and Harrington Brothers Paving for helping make it a success. It's been great. I'm proud of what we have accomplished. There is always next time…"'
